Your Role With Us:Emergency Preparedness SpecialistThis position supports components of the Emergency Preparedness program under the direction of the Emergency Preparedness Administrator.The Emergency Preparedness program provides administrative and planning support for emergency management and disaster preparedness activities in all occupied areas of Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics supporting an organization-wide culture of preparedness.Primary Functions:1. Develops, implements and maintains a comprehensive and collaborative emergency operations plan and hazard vulnerability analysis that is capable of responding to the full range (i.e. all hazards) of internal and external situations that could impact the institution's environment of care and/or disrupt normal operations, including but not limited to utilities failures, internal incidents, natural disasters, terrorism attacks, disease outbreaks, radiation emergencies and hazardous materials releases. 2. Updates policies and procedures for emergency preparedness and disaster planning and management. 3. Provides training and expert advice to units and functional groups to increase organizational emergency management and preparedness ability and capacity. Assists in instruction at educational meetings, including new employee orientation, to organize curriculum and instruct employees in matters pertaining to emergency preparedness and disaster planning 4. Maintains compliance with industry, national, regional and local regulations, standards and guidelines for hospital emergency preparedness. 5. Supports partnerships with various community associations and organizations. Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork. 6. Attends and participates in local (city, county and regional) emergency planning and exercises that involve healthcare. 7. Develops and revises as necessary emergency operations plan policies and procedures, and other regulatory standard work and plans related to emergency management and preparedness to ensure on-going compliance and readiness.Background/Expertise:Associate of Sciences degree. Bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum of three (3) years recent experience in emergency preparedness, including strategic planning for disasters and other risks to the community or as a registered nurse in a hospital setting, required.
