WE ARE HIRING A FULL TIME ASSISTANT CONTROLLER TO WORK AT OUR HEADQUARTERS IN VANCOUVER, WA.  This is a hybrid role, working from home on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Job Summary
The Assistant Controller will work directly with the Controller to ensure the monitoring and proper recording of UGC’s assets.  This position will also ensure internal control compliance and accounting compliance within generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  The Assistant Controller is also responsible for the management of the Corporate Grain Accounting Team and support of the Finance Accounting Team, providing guidance and training in accounting principles within the application of GAAP standards.  The Assistant Controller should have a thorough understanding of GAAP technical principles and reporting requirements.  The Assistant Controller must have a thorough understanding of internal control standards, with the ability to assess and provide recommendations to the Controller, CFO, and/or Treasurer.  The position is integral in the management and delivery of corporate projects as required with the ability to lead and direct project teams.  Self-direction with the ability to multi-task, with a focus on continual improvement, is essential. This position will be required to maintain a positive, forthright attitude that promotes a collaborative, respectful, and diverse corporate culture, and conducts themselves in a professional and favorable manner.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, but equivalent work experience and education will be considered. 
  • Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the management of accounting functions, CPA preferred.
  • Proven and effective interpersonal skills; must support a team-oriented approach within the department as well as for the Company.
  • Independent, self-starter with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work with the Microsoft suite of products and various ERP systems.
