Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides leadership to the Manufacturing Engineers at the Plant location.  Will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
 
  • Lead team members conducting various roles by assigning jobs and measuring performance
  • Provide expertise in manufacturing process improvement and new process development.
  • Provide technical support for the use of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering tools for development of Standard Work.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to production processes.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launch for new and revised products.
  • Ensure that new product introduction is successful in the plant with industrialization and program management as priorities.
  • Support plant CI manager and teams to implement improvement projects to deliver VCP targets.
  • Identify, lead, and track technical cost savings projects in the plant to ensure that investment in technical improvements lead to targeted financial benefits and projects are on time.
  • Assist costing groups with suggested feedback and changes to improve costing projects and quoting.
  • Understand the use of computer simulations of processes and provide input and recommendations for improvement for the plant.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support excellence, including:
    • Team participation in Lean Manufacturing to eliminate waste and make jobs safer and easier
    • Work on kaizen teams mistake-proofing processes
    • Visual aid development to clearly flow down work instructions to manufacturing team.
  • Maintain, adjust, and propose plant layout via Solidworks for improvement, Kaizen, and flow projects.
  • Support the development of the budget, track and support the Capital Requisition processes.
  • Analyze and prepare documents for CER projects.
  • Work with maintenance and machine shop team members to maintain current practices pertaining to predictive and preventive maintenance schedules, tooling production and plant maintenance improvements.
  • Lead plant standard and work with plant maintenance team to ensure effective and efficient maintenance activity to include PM.
  • Lead training for plant personnel with respect to Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering tools such as computer simulations, predetermined time systems, electronic process documentation and planning systems. Participate in the evaluation, selection and application of new technology and processes and their ‘best’ application.

Required Education & Experience:
 
  • Minimum of 4-year degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial or manufacturing engineering, computer science or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 3-years’ experience in shop floor level work.
 
Preferred Education & Experience:
 
  • Experience with lean manufacturing preferred.
  • 4-year apprenticeship in Machine Maintenance or Tool and Die is a plus.
  • Certified Six Sigma belt and experience with lean manufacturing strategies

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Computer proficiency in Solidworks and MS office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership skills.
