Responsibilities

Assess and treat Hazelden Betty Ford patients who suffer from psychiatric illness and participate in enhancing psychiatric care delivery in a multidisciplinary, 12-step based treatment environment. Educate staff on best practices in the management of co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. Propose, develop, and implement best practices in psychiatric care delivery under the direction of the Medical Director. Propose, develop, and implement improvements in the process of psychiatric care delivery under the direction of the Medical Director. Work collaboratively with other physicians and staff to ensure the best possible psychiatric treatment for Hazelden patients.

    Assess and diagnose mental disorders in individuals referred in order to treat specified mental disorders and provide consultation services to professional staff.
  • Provide psychiatric medical expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders to ensure that biological aspects of mental disorder are addressed.
  • Educate patients, customers, peers and other staff regarding mental health issues.
  • Meet organizational requirements for staffing and productivity
  • Actively participate in the development of a physician services team and increase the involvement of physician services, and in particular, psychiatry in multidisciplinary care delivery
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (MD)
  • Current license to practice medicine in appropriate state
  • Board certified, certified in addiction medicine or board eligible in a medical specialty. If board eligible, must be board certified or certified in addiction medicine prior to the re-credentialing in two years.
  • Addiction related medical practice or equivalent/related experience
  • DEA Certificate
  • Current BLS certification
    • Certification must be from American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior CD/Detox experience; 1 yr. experience in acute care setting
  • Minimum 2 yrs. experience in addiction medicine practice
  • Board certification in ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine)
