THE ROLE

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Philanthropy of the Providence Foundations of Oregon will serve in a senior fundraising and administrative role for all philanthropic programs conducted by Providence Foundations of Oregon focused on the Providence Cancer Center. Responsible for the internal operations of the Foundations including, but not limited to, strategic business planning, budgeting, human resource management, prospect portfolio management, grants, prospect development, Foundation messaging, grateful patient program, data analytics and prospect research. They will lead in the planning and execution of all fund development strategies and campaigns for the region collaborating with the Executive Director of Philanthropy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrates Providence values of dignity, justice, compassion, integrity, and excellence to customers, employees, and visitors; and provides quality service in the performance of work assignments and duties.
  • Manages a portfolio of donors and develops fundraising plans, implementing objectives to support annual budget goals and multi-year campaigns.
  • Oversees the deployment of fundraising gift officers and other assigned Foundation staff to implement annual and multi-channel fundraising strategies.
  • Prepares timely and accurate reports.
  • Monitors progress toward annual and capital fundraising goals; disseminates routine and ad hoc reports to philanthropy staff, Medical Center executive management, and key Board members and other volunteers.
  • Oversees the management of the staff for a comprehensive grant program that will include Federal, State, local, corporate, and private grant funding.
  • Oversees the Foundation messaging and prospect development programs including the direct response program, digital philanthropy, caregiver campaigns and donor stewardship and recognition programs.
  • Collaborates with Executive Director of Philanthropy and other foundation staff members to enhance research, and data analytics to engage patients and physicians more effectively in grateful patient fundraising efforts.
  • Oversees with Executive Director of Philanthropy aspects of the Foundations' budget, financial disbursements, and investment management.
  • Works with support and programming staff and philanthropy officers to develop menu of routine report formats that serve the needs of philanthropy.
  • Assesses fund raising needs, current, local, and national issues and comparative data factors related to activities for key success.
  • Maintains HIPAA standards for fundraising, STARK law as it pertains to Philanthropy and Federal and State regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates the development of annual work plans.
  • Staffs committees as assigned.
  • Maintains professional growth and development.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives and improving organizational performance activities.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Represents Regional Philanthropy Officer and President of Covenant Health Foundation at executive team meetings and community events as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration
  • Master's Degree (MBA) preferred
  • Preferred upon hire: Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE)
  • 10 or more years of management of related not-for-profit administration and program development.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • 5 years of major Gift Fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex support systems.
  • Technical skills including experience with relational databases and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of fundraising essential.
  • Knowledge of healthcare fundraising priorities preferred.
  • Should have the qualities of integrity, industry, and curiosity.
  • Energy level must ensure high quality productivity on a timely basis.
  • Must be capable of exercising good judgment and confidentiality in dealing with volunteers, donors, staff, and other medical center personnel.
  • Must have patience and be able to understand the needs of others.
  • Must be independent, accurate and reliable.
  • Must have the ability to work successfully in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision and have a team attitude.
