Join the Arete Finance and Accounting Team! Payroll Specialist Type: Full-Time (5 days a week in office) Hourly- Non Exempt Shift: Day

Pay: $28-$34/hr

Location: Arete Corporate Office - 13221 SW 68th Parkway #305, Tigard, OR 97233

The primary responsibility of this position is to establish and maintain employee payroll records and assist the overall Payroll Department's clerical duties.

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit timekeeping records for compliance and established standards.
  • Review and verify new hire data in the payroll system, maintain time and attendance records, and post changes in pay and tax status, and other miscellaneous changes.
  • Daily monitor the payroll department mail and email inboxes, researching all issues with follow through to resolution. Escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Process and review new hires in the Worker's Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program, Bureau of Labor Statistics requests (BLS), written or verbal Verification of Employment (VOE), and Oregon Employment Surveys (OES).
  • Assist with documentation on payroll processes and maintain filing for the department.
  • Backup payroll manager as needed.
  • Receive, enter, and process garnishments and the appropriate responses.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, additional schooling or training highly preferred.
  • Must have 3-5 years of full cycle experience processing payroll for large employers
  • Ultipro/UKG experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and payroll principles and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and verbal skills (both written and oral) to effectively problem solve with other employees, all levels of Avamere staff and third parties external to Avamere.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate and solve problems with minimal assistance.
  • Understanding of modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Proven capability for effective use of computer systems including spreadsheet, word processing and email software.
  • Must maintain a high standard of confidentiality and honesty.
  • Must work effectively as a team member, with management staff and must be able to work independently and/or unsupervised.
