Job Description:

Microchip has an opportunity for a Technician IV-Facilities (HVAC)in the Site Services department at Fab 4 in Gresham, Oregon on the back daycompressed work week shift (6:00 AM - 6:15 PM, Thu, Fri, Sat, every other Wed).This position will support semiconductor manufacturing at Fab 4.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure operation of facilities HVAC and scrubber systems, buildings and equipment within cleanroom quality parameters and environmental discharge permit limitations.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC systems.

  • Respond to site HVAC system alarms.

  • Provide support with HVAC configuration and maintenance, and maintain associated written documents and reports.

  • Provide timely response and follow-up to all correspondence, maintaining open lines of communication with team members, engineering and management.

  • Assist supervisors in identifying training requirements and safety procedures in assigned areas.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, assisting other trades as required.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Skills

  • Team player. Ability to work with shift members and customers to identify and solve HVAC related issues.

  • Ability to perform routine maintenance logs, PM's and system monitoring.

  • Operational skills with computerized building control systems and basic business computer software.

  • Ability to work on projects with limited direction, identifying what needs to be done and executing work in a timely fashion.

  • Flexibility to cover shifts as needed.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.


Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance operations in manufacturing environment.

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.

  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HVAC industrial plant systems.

  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of boilers, chillers, compressed air, heating/cooling water systems, steam, condensate, scrubbed exhaust, process vacuum, air handling equipment and exhaust systems.

  • Familiarity with Semiconductor clean rooms a plus.

  • 2-year technical degree or certification in HVAC.


Special Requirements

  • Participation as an active member of the Fab 4 ERT (Emergency Response Team).

  • Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical.

  • Able to lift, push, pull approx. 50 lbs; carry 50 lbs; sit 5%; stand 60%; walk 35%; must be able to perform activities that include climbing, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing. Work environment could include slippery surfaces, noise or vibrations, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fumes or odors, dust or gases.

  • Must have manual dexterity, hearing and visual acuity (color distinction, peripheral vision and depth perception).


This is a Safety Sensitive position.
