POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Provide leadership and direction in a specific department in partnership with the store manager. A focus on delivering an exceptional customer service, train and develop team members on product knowledge and upholding store standards. Establish a strong sales culture with accountability for operational excellence, achievement of financial goals and store standards.

People Management Skills:

  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner to team, leading effective huddles, coaching sessions, and delegates tasks to team members. Support and coach others to improve any performance gaps.
  • Participate in department recruitment and succession plans for the store in partnership with Store Manager.
  • Responsible for training store staff on key products in their departments.

Customer Service Skills:

  • Deliver exemplary customer service.
  • Act as the store's product expert, educating customers on unique products and Brown Jug's private label offerings.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service; inform the Store Manager of all complaints.
  • Accountable for department product rollout and product launches.
  • Evaluate programs and promotions for effectiveness and offer recommendations to Store Manager.
  • Greet each customer within 30 seconds of entering the department or store.
  • Thank every customer as they leave.
  • Engage with customer to learn about what the customer wants.
  • Build the sale by introducing new products to the customer. Add on at the register

Schedule Requirements:

To set the example of store excellence and ensure a solid awareness of all aspects of store operations, balancing the tasks with all managers in the store. Following the business needs, using the heat map of customer flow.

All managers are required to work the following schedules:

  • In December, every weekend is required
  • January, flexible scheduling allowed for time off

Financial:

  • Ensure that goals will be met through appropriate planning and organization of labor, inventory, and finances for short and long term success.
  • Meet or exceed department's Private Label targets.
  • Meet or exceed department's financial targets through partnership with Store Manager.
  • Review and monitor Loss Prevention program to protect the company's inventory and assets in Partnership with Store Manager.
  • Monitor and make appropriate adjustments to scheduling to achieve labor cost.

Individual Department Guidelines:

Beer Department:

  • Ensure Growler Bar is meeting the margin guidelines.
  • Ensure the Growler Bar gas and supplies are clean and up to date.
  • Focus toward completing the Beer Cicerone training.
  • Actively participate in company tastings and training.
  • Keep beer set up to date.
  • Work with the sales reps to verify shelves are full, clean, and faced to two weeks of sales.
  • Actively work on the sales floor during the busiest times of the day to observe, coach, and sell to the customers.

Regulatory Adherence:

  • Ensure that OHS, LP, TAP or Rserving and other regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and adhered to
  • Participate in health inspections, audits and required corrective actions
  • Maintain First-Aid, LP and OHS Training
  • Maintain TAP or Rserving and ensure employees maintain TAP or Rserving
  • Ensure AK ABC Board and other government guidelines are met
  • Adheres to all Afognak Native Corporation policies, with a focus on Social Responsibility

Payrate: $17.00 to $21.00 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Work Experience - Required/Preferred

  • Minimum, 2-years' experience in retail supervisory or management
  • Product knowledge of the department and the passion to educate staff
  • Excellent communication skills looking to improve the teamwork for the store
  • Professional, well organized, ability to plan, execute the plan, prioritize tasks and has the initiative to drive the department to be the best

Education - Required/Preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • TAP or Rserving Certification
  • First-Aid Certificate is considered an asset
  • Training in wine/beer/spirits (preferred, not required)

Physical Requirements

  • Available to work a varied retail schedule, including evening and weekends
  • Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to stand for an extended period
  • Comfortable climbing ladders
