Job Description

Starting pay is $29.80 per hour + $1.00 shift differential

Shift: 6PM - 6AMon a 2 2 3 Rotating Schedule

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assure product quality by analyzing variable and attribute data.
  • A working knowledge of understanding a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Must have good hand to eye coordination.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Should have some mechanical aptitude.
  • Must pass quality analyst test.
  • Ability to become computer proficient.


This position is guided by established procedures and policies with guidance by the Quality Control Supervisor and Production Supervisor.

  • Inspect incoming materials by the following procedures.
  • Read I.D. tags to confirm materials received are what was ordered or as per tag description.
  • Unband material using band cutters, and clean up cut bands, paper
  • coverings, etc.
  • Physically remove and inspect samples for visual inspection and record information if needed.
  • Perform functional tests of enamel integrity by adhesion test and check.
  • Metal hardness by using specific hardness tester and check material.
  • Dimensions for correct metal thickness.
  • Check color of litho as per color sample and check any visual defects inside and outside of materials.
  • Collect accurate records of test results and input into computer system.
  • Inspect work in process by the following procedures:
  • Remove samples and inspect for visual defects by company product known as visual and plant standards.
  • Measure for dimensional accuracy and interpret control chart and histograms.
  • Report results of findings to line mechanic or supervisor for corrective action.
  • Inspect work in process by the following procedures (Continued):
  • Perform cut plate measurements, double seam tear downs, weld integrity, stripe application and other related tests as required for a three-piece can by utilizing specific testing equipment and devices.
  • Perform factory finished can height, countersink, flange width, and any other dimensional check associated with the draw-redraw can production.
  • Process by utilizing specific testing equipment and devices.
  • Perform functional testing such as openability, panel, buckle, coating integrity by using specific testing equipment and devices.
  • Perform outside diameter, score residual, brim width, tab projection and any other dimensional check associated with the shell and end production, process by utilizing specific testing equipment and devices.
  • Produce and interpret metallurgicals.
  • Analyze control charts and histograms for all critical control points, and report finding to production supervisors. (PMDR).
  • Troubleshoot production problems by the following procedures.
  • Analyze statistical data, using the tools of SPC, to spot or indicate the beginning of possible problems or defects that may occur.
  • Analyze defects to pinpoint what part of the manufacturing process is failing.
  • Report results of findings to line mechanic and production supervisor for corrective action.
  • Follow up to assure that problems were corrected.
  • Notify Quality Control Supervisor of quality issues.
  • Inspect finished foods by the following procedures:
  • Verify correct end sleeve counts.
  • Verify correct can pallet pattern and layer counts.
  • Verify correct box and layer counts.
  • Verify proper C.O.C. and material identification.
  • Assure product is clearly and correctly marked for identification.
  • Assure skid and pallets are properly loaded for stacking and/or shipping.
  • Assure product is free of damage or outside foreign contamination.
  • Hold out defective product for further investigation and assure defective held product is accurately and properly identified as to product and defect description.
  • Assure that any defective held product is removed from normal location and moved to identified hold area.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work accomplished by the following procedures.
  • Record correctly and properly all needed and requested information of day's findings.
  • Enter correctly and properly all needed and requested data into
  • computer system.
  • Summarize PMDR results for interpretation by production supervisors.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisor by the following procedures.
  • Maintain regular and daily contact with Production Supervisor or Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Complete required reports, forms, or computer entrees.
  • Communicate with suppliers and customers by the following procedures.
  • Inform suppliers via telephone, letter, fax or actual samples of defects or other data requested by the customer.
  • Collect and organize data in an acceptable manner so the customer can easily read, understand and use.
  • Maintain prints in good condition.


ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly, stoop, bend, reach, and walk on the production floor or climb stairs throughout the working day.

  • Oorganizing sorting crews
  • Performing C.O.C. changeovers
  • Organizing daily quality packet
  • Statistically reviewing non critical control points
  • Maintaining specification books, gauge calibrations, dispositioning DMT's, conduct gauge calibration, discrimination ratios, SGC 500 pareto, out of control investigations, producing attribute and variable data paretos, sample and evaluate product for dispositioning
