POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Technology Specialist I

Supervisor: Information Manager

Location: Mount Scott Office; 7916 Se Foster Rd.

Hours: Monday - Friday, some evening and weekend work required

Wage: $25.25 hourly - Eligible for Language Differential

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of Information Technology team, maintain Transitions Projects' data and physical computer systems, including some systems administration tasks. Provide support and assistance to the Data & Technology Specialist II and Information Manager for helpdesk support, staff support, site support, account and vendor support. Assist in ongoing training of staff, ensure data integrity, and generate routine reports. Focus of duties may be adjusted at any time. This is a full time, non-exempt, union represented position.

Basic IT Support Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain agency hardware at all service sites.
  2. Manage user accounts in Active Directory.
  3. Triage and assign helpdesk tickets.
  4. Resolve helpdesk tickets.
  5. Provide help desk support for staff in need of computer assistance at all service sites.
  6. Assist with system-specific training when new systems are implemented.
  7. Assist with hardware and software upgrades when necessary.
  8. Follow secure network practices
  9. Provide reference support for basic office software questions.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Higher-Level IT Responsibilities: *May require coordination with outside consultant/contractors if beyond the skill set of the Specialist.
  1. Provide on-site and/or after-hours IT support during times of need, including facilitating access for outside IT contractors.
  2. Implement network hardware and software upgrades as necessary.
  3. Execute data and system projects.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Each Transition Projects employee must:

  1. Acquire First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire and be retested biannually thereafter throughout employment.
  2. Complete Bloodborne Pathogens and Narcan Training within 30 days of hire and be retested annually thereafter throughout employment.
  3. Demonstrate reliability by being present for work as scheduled, arriving and leaving on time and taking breaks in expected time frames.
  4. Interact effectively with persons of diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
  5. Attend agency and program staff meetings.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with clients, interaction with staff and interaction with the general public.
  2. Hearing adequate for telephone work. Vision adequate for close work.
  3. Hand and finger dexterity adequate to operate standard office equipment.
  4. Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, reach, stoop, pull, sit, and squat. May be required to crawl under desks, use ladders and safely operate power tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and is able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways.

  1. Bachelor's degree or certificates in a related field -OR- 3 years of experience with helpdesk or systems administration work.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in the delivery of services to clients.
  4. Excellent computer skills. Demonstrated ability to use word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, and Internet programs, as well as familiarity with various reporting tools and technologies (SQL and advanced Excel skills highly desirable).
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Good interpersonal relationship skills.
  7. Basic understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, mental health, domestic violence and sexual assault.
