ABOUT THE POSITION

Columbia Sportswear Finance & Accounting teams oversee the financial health and forward strategy for a portfolio of four global brands. These teams exercise expertise across Compliance, Credit, Financial Planning and Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Strategy. Advancing traditional Finance & Accounting functions, the organization is also driving exciting innovation in the application of advanced analytics and automated intelligence.

As Credit & Accounts Receivable Manager you will be responsible for managing wholesale credit and accounts receivable for Columbia Sportswear Company and its portfolio of brands (Columbia Sportswear, SOREL, Mountain Hardwear and prAna) within the US and internationally. Within this role you will lead and mentor a team individuals overseeing the collection of receivables, deductions and credit risk mitigation, ensuring revenue maximization.

HOWYOU'LLMAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Manage the credit & collections activities in adherence to credit policies. Assist with timely collections, negotiations and taking security, litigation, and bankruptcy proceedings. Responsible for resolution of disputes and determine appropriate collection action for problem accounts once collection efforts are exhausted

  • Review & process annual credit approvals to a maximum of $2M, referring accounts more than limit to the Director of Credit. Analyze new credit applications, determine credit worthiness, and establish lines of credit. Meet with customers to establish relationships, review financial statements, or negotiate the resolution of disputes/problems

  • Monitor industry and customer credit risk on an on-going basis through working with credit reporting agencies, industry credit groups, industry credit professionals, and monitoring economic news sources. Continuously monitor the aging of accounts for North America customers to ensure adequate actions are being taken

  • Monitor Dispute Management process to ensue prompt processing of claims, collection of denied claims and resolution of disputed claims. Establish and maintain authorization limits for North America

  • Report to Columbia Sportswear Director of Credit located at US headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Establish and maintain close working relationship with Sales, Accounts Operations, Finance & Operations to ensure the maximization of revenue in conjunction with control of risk. Serve as the company resource on North America Credit and Collection topics

  • Evaluate and determine the adequacy of the Bad Debt Reserve & Chargeback reserve recommending adjustments as required. Regularly forecast these reserves and explains variances to forecast monthly

  • Review Key Customer Partner Agreements to ensure accruals are established as per agreement and customer claims are per the agreement. Monitor accruals and recommend adjustments as required

  • Organized and capable of managing competing priorities and projects

  • Analytical and adept at interpret and communicating financial information

YOUHAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in business or relevant educational background - A Business, Accounting or Finance focus is preferred

  • 8+ years' experience in a credit environment with increasingly higher levels of responsibility

  • Proven team development and leadership

  • Applied experience across credit approvals and order to cash processes

  • Proficiency in an ERP system, preferably in SAP

  • Ability to travel within the US and Canada at 10%
