Position Summary: The Information Technology (IT) Manager at Volunteers of America Oregon plays a critical role in ensuring the effective management and utilization of information technology resources across the organization's diverse programs and worksites. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the IT Manager will oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure, systems administration, vendor management, and compliance to support the VOA Oregon's mission and objectives. Key responsibilities include coordinating between the organization, IT vendors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and operational efficiency, managing IT projects and initiatives, providing technical support to staff members, and optimizing IT expenditures.

The successful candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Experience in non-profit operations and a commitment to the organization's mission are highly desirable.

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A combination of relevant education and demonstrated experience may be considered as a substitute for a formal degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a non-profit or similar organizational setting with dispersed staff and worksites, including staff members working remotely.
  • Proven experience in coordinating IT initiatives across multiple programs or departments.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and budget management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, CITM, CISSP, CISM, etc.) are a plus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the maintenance, upgrade, and optimization of the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, and software systems.
  • Collaborate with program managers and directors to understand their specific IT needs and ensure that technology resources are aligned with program objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT vendors, managing relationships, contracts, and service level agreements to ensure effective delivery of IT services and solutions.
  • Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and security measures to safeguard the organization's data, networks, and systems in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to staff members across all worksites, addressing IT-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • In partnership with the Vice President of Finance develop and manage the IT budget, identifying cost-effective solutions and optimizing IT expenditures to meet organizational goals.
  • Develop and execute strategic IT plans to support the organization's growth and scalability, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Coordinate IT training programs for staff members to enhance their IT literacy and proficiency in utilizing technology resources effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to IT systems, activities, and expenditures for internal review and audit purposes.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in the IT field, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance the organization's IT capabilities.

  • Skilled in applying project management principles to plan, execute, and oversee IT initiatives within established timelines and budgets.
  • Skilled in strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to allow for the identification of opportunities for process improvements and optimization of IT performance.
  • Ability to analyze and assess IT needs across multiple programs and worksites, prioritizing tasks accordingly.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and resilience to navigate challenges and overcome obstacles in achieving IT-related objectives.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision ensures the timely completion of IT tasks and projects, contributing to the achievement of organizational objectives.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy, and demonstrate high level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, reporting, and compliance activities.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, IT vendors, and external partners.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams including program managers and directors, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment of IT strategies with programmatic goals and objectives.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license, ability to meet agency insurance requirement and a reliable form of transportation.

Supervisory: This position does not supervisor direct reports.

  • Works in a professional office setting with moderate light and temperature. This role necessitates working from an authorized VOA Oregon location. Remote work, up to two day/s per week, may be permitted following an assessment of job duties and responsibilities and authorization.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, salaried exempt position, typically operating from Monday to Friday. Evening hours or weekend work may occasionally be required.
