Your Role With Us:

Salem Hospital is currently seeking a Palliative Care physician to join our Palliative Care team. Salem Health's Palliative Care program has a collaborative interdisciplinary team, who have developed and fostered strong relationships and support throughout the organization. The team is comprised of four physicians, Social Workers, RN, support staff, with access to Chaplains and an Ethicist. As a Palliative Care physician at Salem Health your schedule will consist of four 10-hour workdays, totaling 184 annual shifts.

Salem Health is Oregon's largest acute-care hospital and is home to the busiest ER on the West Coast. We are a not-for-profit Level II Trauma facility and are licensed for 644 acute-care beds. Our patients receive comprehensive medical services through our robust Medical Group of more than 330 employed providers. Salem Health Medical Group focuses on enhancing the patient experience and providing higher levels of care coordination. Background/Expertise:

Education:

  • MD or DO degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathy.
  • Two years of relevant clinical management with prescribing experience required.
  • Fellowship training or 2-3 years of experience in palliative care preferred,
  • MD/DO in a primary medical field appropriate to ABHPM standards and 5 or more years of experience in a clinical specialty.

Licenses/ Certification/ Registration:

  • Current unrestricted license as a physician in the State of Oregon by the employment start date.
  • Current, valid and unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification with an Oregon address by the employment start date.
  • Maintains active clinical privileges as delineated by the Medical Executive Committee.
  • Current board certification in medical or surgical specialty and American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABHPM); or completion of Palliative Medicine Fellowship and ABHPM certification or board eligible and achieve board certification within 5 years of employment start date.

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities:

  • Knowledge of Lean methodology highly preferred.
