The Director, Client Benefits, is a senior member of the Client Benefits team accountable for creating and maintaining client benefit operations strategy and vision that support product evolution. This role will continue to build, develop, and lead a high performing team of client benefit consultants responsible for working with BBSI branches, clients, and brokers to create a tailored benefits package that will meet the needs of our clients and their employees.


This senior leader will oversee the sale and implementation of the benefits product with regular interaction with multi-million-dollar business units, senior leaders in Benefits Operations, IT, and Underwriting who are champions of the BBSI benefit product offering.


The ideal candidate will have a balance of experience with resource allocation, identifying and implementing operational effectiveness with a benefit product offering coupled with senior leadership experience with high-performing licensed benefits consultants. The Director, Client Benefits will consult on a broad range of organizational issues, collaborate with executive leaders and provide regular reporting to key stakeholders


The ideal candidate will be able to effectively evolve our client benefit product by providing innovative solutions for our growing team of consultants and administrators by championing the service element with the responsibility to bring on new BBSI Benefits Clients and their employees (worksite employees).


Key Performance Indicators will be measured by:


  • Growth of the master benefits program (Health, Dental, Vision, Ancillary, etc.)
  • Design and development of benefits offerings based on client objectives while providing clients with strategic guidance and decision-making support.
  • Effective partner and provider relationships contributing to a best-in-class product offering.
  • Client Employee education strategies and programs designed to sell on the value of their benefits and simplify industry concepts during open enrollment meetings, thereby maximizing employee engagement and plan participation.
  • Support of field-driven new business development, identifying opportunities and client/referral partner relationships and providing guidelines for effective conversations related to benefit product growth.
  • Perform as a subject matter expert in the area of employee benefits, providing strategic guidance, training, and support to colleagues and peers - training and mentorship contributing to the professional growth of the team.

  • Impact on the client and worksite employee experience with BBSI and the Benefits Program throughout the client's lifecycle by professionally and effectively managing all relationships to include:
  • Benefits onboarding - implementation and strategic pricing of benefit plans
  • Collaboration with active outreach to clients throughout the year while working together to provide prompt and thorough resolution of escalated matters.
  • Benefits renewal, with 95% client retention.
  • Assure 100% compliance related to the benefit product offering by collaborating and providing expertise to the internal compliance stakeholders, assuring broker adherence to compliance requirements and providing expertise and oversight to all client benefit employees to assure adherence to HIPAA


REQUIREMENTS:


  • 20+ years progressive leadership experience with employee benefits at a PEO, benefits brokerage or general agency that includes supervising high-level employees; Account Management a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of employee benefits principles and practices, including laws and regulations at the state and federal level, product and market-specific familiarity, industry trends, and underwriting concepts. This includes self-directed development and maintenance of knowledge.
  • to develop and maintain deep knowledge of master plan contracts, carrier partnerships, competitors, plan limitations and exclusions, internal processes, underwriting requirements, and compliance considerations.
  • track record leading high-performing benefits producers
  • Ability to understand audience and modify communication clearly in verbal and written formats with all levels and industry types to tailor complex concepts to the audience in a way that they can understand.
  • Excellent facilitation skills including conducting meetings for desired impact. Demonstrated ability to write, develop, and deliver successful presentations and facilitate trainings to individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with executives, branch leaders, business unit team members, brokers, potential clients and referral partners, and key product stakeholders
  • Demonstrated relationship-building attributes to perform as a trusted advisor to business owners while building confidence in BBSI, our benefits program and the service team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a willingness to enthusiastically "roll up sleeves" and perform administrative work as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability leading a high-performing team to excellence including executing on action necessary to assure accountability and ownership of key objectives with an evolving product
  • Extensive Microsoft Office experience, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience using CRM software.
  • Experience, confidence and poise with regular reporting to senior executives
  • Availability to travel up to 25% during peak periods, including possible overnight stays.
  • Current Life and Health Insurance Producer's License.

Salary and Other Compensation:


The starting salary range for this position is $140,000-180,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography, skills, education, experience, certifications, and other qualifications of the candidate.


This position is also eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan.

Paid Time Off: 40 hours of paid sick leave annually (additional sick/front loading/accrual, if any, based on state or regional requirements); vacation accrues up to 80 hours in the first year, up to 120 hours in years 2-4, and up to 160 hours in the fifth year; 6 paid holidays annually, 4 paid volunteer days annually.
