Geneva Ridge Resort in beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is seeking an experienced sales professional to fill an immediate opening. The Assistant Director of Sales will work with and oversee a team responsible for the group sales effort of the hotel, including developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, implementation of sales and marketing strategies maximizing hotel profits while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Geneva Ridge Resort us under new own ownership, and is now managed by the Paloma Management Group, proud owners of Geneva National Golf Club. The hotel was renovated in 2008 and offers 146 guest rooms plus additional privately owned villas, 18,000 square feet of meeting space and a full service restaurant and lounge. Additional amenities include a full service Spa, indoor and outdoor pools, marina access and seamless access to Geneva National’s three championship golf courses, 12,000 square feet of meeting space and fine dining restaurant.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Assist with direction of solicitation efforts of the sales staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.

Recruit, interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.

Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Company standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.

Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the sales department to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly forecast, marketing budget, lead management system, group booking pace report, star reports and sales meeting minutes.

Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets.

Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Internally promote Company programs.

Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to the staff.

Initiate preparation of computerized annual business plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.

Organize and/or attend scheduled sales department, executive committee, and related meetings.

Solicit and service major accounts.

Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.

Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budgets, forecasts and other reports as directed/required.

Develop rates, group sales and catering deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management.

Oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal, sate and local employment and civil rights laws.

Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.

Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. Continually enhance relationships with current accounts to maintain visibility and market share.

Continually target and prospect new business through individual creativity and innovation. Conduct tours of the hotel and expose clients to facilities and services; entertain qualified potential clients.

Handle all aspects of sales for groups for a specific, assigned market. Exceed personal sales goals monthly, quarterly and annually through account development and maintenance.

Quote and negotiate prices within established parameters. Upon closing, coordinate and follow up with convention services, catering and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of hotel’s promised services.

Collect market and competitive intelligence to asses and implement strategy and long term goals. Assist as directed, in the planning and strategies of the group sales effort, with development of competitive intelligence and in the preparation of the marketing plan, especially as it related to the group segment.

Represent the hotel positively and effectively in the marketplace. Maintain up to date knowledge of corporate/hotel procedures and products and the competitor’s product, strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and the achievement of goals.
